The eMC database contains SPCs and PILs and in total has more than 9,000 documents. All of these SPCs and PILs have been checked or approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Information within SPCs and PILs covers over 90% of prescriptions in primary care. There are over 2,000 documents covering GSL and P medicines.
This database is used by many NHS organisations including NHS Evidence and the National electronic Library for Medicines. The British Medical Association (BMA) and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) list this database as a recommended medicines information resource.
A recent online survey of over 130 Doctors found that over 80% of Doctors get all the information that they need when using this database.
